SECURITY SPECIALIST

Position Summary:
Ensures that facility, property, and employees are properly safeguarded from damage, loss and/or injury.Coordinates security program activities with department heads.

Major Duties:

  • Coordinates security program activities, with department heads and/or departmental security representative(s).
  • Aids in providing Security education and awareness programs, classes, posters, briefing, reports, information, memo’s etc., as necessary.
  • Maintains badging records such as logs of badges issued, returned, lost, and destroyed. Validates and invalidates badges into computer Access Control System. Maintains inventory of badge equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains a complete record on all locks, keys, parts, and other information on devices and authorized vendors and/or suppliers for same.
  • Conducts Foreign Travel Briefing for OCONUS travel and OCONUS deployments as required.
  • Advises appropriate management personnel, through verbal, or written reports, of matters necessary for further action or disposition reflecting conditions of the facility.
  • Interfaces with USMTM, DETCO, Landlords and others to determine threat level.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Two years of college training or equivalent verbal and writing skills, or equivalent prior experience in similar security settings.
  • Must be familiar with personal computer operations and basic software.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge to understand and repair security locks.
