GAGE LAB

Position Summary:
Perform actual calibrations on all items such as micrometers, depth gages, calipers, torque wrenches, meters, etc.

Major Duties:

  • Calibrate floor gages within their calibration cycles on various gages by means of using standard gage lab tools such as gage blocks, surface plates, gear wires, supermics, height gages, etc.
  • Document all calibration using existing paperwork.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Inspect all tools, including special cutting tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures and checking devices purchased from vendors and job shops or produced in the plant tool and die shop.
  • Ascertain by comparison the universally accepted standards and by measurement with precision instruments that there are no errors in the tool, no deviations form specifications and that the parts to be produced or measured by the tool will be accurate and acceptable in production.
  • Use micrometers, comparators, master gauges and similar inspection and measuring tools.
  • Requires a general tool making background & knowledge of production and inspection equipment.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Able to climb into and out of military vehicles, climb up and down ladders, lift 50 lbs and be able to operate overhead cranes.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and interpret drawing requirements to determine if the product meets drawing or work instruction requirements.
  • Strong preference will be given for personnel who have programmed computer measuring machines with strong GD&T knowledge.
  • Knowledge/understanding of Window based PC systems and software.
  • Ability to function in a team based environment and be a self-starter.
  • Must meet ASR requirements for entry into military vehicles.
